The concept that we are at the threshold of a 'new age' is well established in the collective mindset. However, the term 'New Age' has become associated with a broad spectrum of contemporary practices, some of sound origin, some riding the bandwagon that has created a ‘new spiritual supermarket’. After all of the workshops, all of the healing practices and tools, all of the questing and personal growth, are we collectively shining a brighter light that has impact? How much have we collectively created a pattern where it is easier to seek healing than to be healed? It can be safer to pretend to have dysfunctions than to stop pretending that we are not powerful and beautiful.

"It is a perverse reflection of political thinking and of the power of media that solutions are still viewed through the lens of finance. This is evident in the approach to Global Warming, where carbon emission taxing or cap-and-trade policies are the proposed means of solution and the people are sold ‘feel good’ incentives and given to concern over their individual ‘carbon footprints’. This is an appalling continuance of politically short-sighted policy and hoodwinking of the people. It will not bring solution.

Climate change is certain, but climate change and environmental degradation are an unnatural outcome of human dysfunction related to the entropy of a closed system and purely mechanical science. The gluttony of profit motive and product consciousness is manifest as an addictive behaviour dysfunction that is delusional in its relationship to reality and only views reality through an economic process of measure. Our world leaders and governments are committing invisible genocide through their policies. The victims of this invisible genocide are the future generations. The ecological crisis of our time is manifest and deepening. The severity of the crisis is recognised. It must also be recognised that the current strategies for solution are inadequate.

Globalisation does not mean plutocratic domination under a one-currency (Ameru) economy, it means that there is no longer a carpet to sweep our inexcusable behaviour under.

As One people who all share red blood, we must collectively accept responsibility for the error of our forebears and the miscreations of our current world leaders".

Skeptical Atheists are welcome, and we ask that all people be considerate and polite when posting. Labels matter little, it's what's going on between the ears that counts.

True skeptics are skeptical of skeptics, skepticism, and him/herself.

Admitting that you may be wrong shows strength of character. We're only human. The only people who don't make mistakes aren't doing anything at all.

Agnostics may have suspicions about social/scientific/spiritual concepts having more or less validity, but our trick is discussing such topics without an emotional investment in any particular outcome.

"We spend a third of our life sleeping. No matter what we do, however virtuous or non-virtuous our activities, whether we are murderers or saints, monks or libertines, every day ends the same. We shut our eyes and dissolve into darkness,. We do so fearlessly, even as everything we know as "me" disappears. After a brief period, images arise and our sense of self arises with them. We exist again in the apparently limitless world of dream. Every night we participate in these most profound mysteries, moving from one dimension of experience to another, losing our sense of self and finding it again, and yet we take it all for granted. We wake in the morning and continue in "real" life, but in a sense we are still asleep and dreaming. The teachings tell us tha twe can continue in this deluded, dreamy state, day and night, or wake up to the truth."

If we cannot carry our practice into sleep, if we lose ourselves every night, what chance do we have to be aware when death comes? Look to your experience in dreams to know how you will fare in death. Look to your experience in sleep to discover whether or not you are truly awake.

In order to fully travel the path to enlightenment, all of life must be recognized and engaged as spiritual opportunity. Tibetan yoga has, from ancient times to the present, used the dream and sleep states both as aides to the path and as complete paths in themselves. During this teaching, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will explain the dream yoga and give instruction and transmission for its practice.

Dream yoga is not only a practice to be done in the dream state. Its understanding and methods work with all moments of life, waking and sleeping. Preliminary practices are engaged to bring greater awareness to each moment and to turn the practitioner's mind from engagement in dualistic preoccupations to integration with the boundless view of the non-dual path. Concentration practice steadies the mind, and yogic practices done during waking periods in the night carry awareness into the sleep state. Eventually the practitioner develops the capacity for lucid dreaming--knowing during the dream that one is in a dream. Once lucidity is stabilized, the dream state is used for tantric practice, for healing, for the development of insight, and finally for the direct penetration into the truth that underlies both the dreams of night and the dream of our waking life.

The focus of dream yoga is integrating with the clear light state of our natural mind. By following precise instructions, the practitioner develops awareness of the onset or presence of dreams; having recognized the dream experience as a dream, the advanced practitioner is able to experience its nature with clear non-conceptual awareness. For less advanced practitioners, becoming lucid in the dream allows one to work with the various manifestations--one can overcome fears, perform actions normally beyond one's capacity, and gradually increase dreams of clarity. In this system, ordinary dreams are understood to be caused by habitual propensities associated with previous actions and experiences conjoined with the energy of the mind. Eventually these emotional dreams can be transformed, liberated, or brought to the path by the accomplished practitioner.

Tenzin Rinpoche will talk about the practice of dream yoga both from the point of view expressed in the text as well as from his own unique experiences.

Hypnotism

I have been watching some videos on youtube, and have summarized hypnotism to the following three
tactics: Syncronization, Anchoring, Invasion.
I tried this on my daughter (8 months), I syncronized to her position and speed,imitated her as she reached for her toys on the floor, and stole her toy!
How have we all been hypnotized? hmm.... Seemingly beneficial groups like Nike, or McDonalds syncronize to our speed of culture, they then find the latest fashion (using studies etc), and then they take our Toys!!!!

20 Astral Keys to Gates of Universal Consciousness

Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist who developed the field of analytical psychology and introduced the concept of archetypes of consciousness being "innate universal psychic dispositions that form the substrate from which the basic themes of human life emerge. Being universal and innate, their influence can be detected in the form of myths, symbols, rituals and instincts of human beings. Archetypes are components of the collective unconscious and serve to organize, direct and inform human thought and behaviour. ...archetypes heavily influence the human life cycle, propelling a neurologically hard-wired sequence which he called the stages of life. Each stage is mediated through a new set of archetypal imperatives which seek fulfillment in action."[1]

Centuries before Jung, the Maya introduced the very similar concept of Archetypes of Divine Consciousness. (According to the Maya, there are 20 of them.) Likewise, these Archetypes form the substrate from which individual Divine Consciousness emerges. Also being components of the collective unconscious, the Maya-identified Archetypes organize, direct and engender Divine thought and behavior in the human experience, in stages, over the course of days, months, years, ...millennia. Hard wired into the binary code of DNA and the human brain, these Archetypes are mediated through the permutations of an universal, binary, object oriented Code evident in and galactically broadcast by harmonic star cycles. The Mayan Sacred Calendar (the Tzolkin) is said to be a graphic representation of a Logic transmitted by star harmonics that unlock doors of Universal Consciousness and interdimensional reality. If so, it ought to sound something like solar wind, right. Having translated the Tzolkin into sound, we offer you a comparison between that and actual NASA recorded solar wind.

When the Tzolkin's harmonic Logic is sequenced in the sonic register and played back at high speed, it sounds very much like solar wind recorded by the Voyager spacecraft, also played back at high speed. Free NLP resource & seeking info on this group. any help appriciated

A friend from Europe pointed me to a pretty cool NLP resource. Though they go under the umbrella of NLP there are threads of many other disciplines intertwined into it - which makes it a pretty cool and interesting approach. The website is www.radicalchangegroup.com

They have published over 12 episodes of NLP and related material so far and are releasing one new recording per week and in my listening to it, they seem to have an interesting spin and approach to NLP. In some cases the presenters are turning many things on their head. They have covered the quite a few topics and surprisingly its rich in content and has no product or seminar plugs anywhere in the episodes I have heard - this was a refreshing change.

Since this seems to be a well informed group I was curious if others in this group have also heard their podcasts? What do you think about it? Has anyone attended or trained under these people ( I was searching for seminars by them but could not find anything) - made me wonder am I missing something here.

The Tzolkin: Music for positive planetary consciousness and change.

Twenty years ago, I was sitting in my little studio in Los Angeles, CA, sequencing and recording the first acoustic translations of the Mayan Sacred Calendar, the Tzolkin, and shifting into what was being called the "Harmonic Convergence." Throughout the convergence, the acoustic translations of the Tzolkin's 20 Sacred Signs were being broadcast through my house and yard via the only radio transmission system accessible to me at the time, an el cheapo walkie talkie. Lolol... Hey, gotta do what ya gotta do and, having "coincidentally" translated the Tzolkin into sound only months before, my intention was to insure that the planet's ethereal body received both the galactic radio transmission and a local radio transmission of the [concentrated] Tzolkin's currents, simultaneously. It was the least I could do for the planet and, although I had the least of the consumer broadcasting possibilities, I got the job done. (A little leaven leavens the whole loaf.) Since that auspicious transit, the world's consciousness has followed a predicted course toward collective enlightenment, on and relative to all levels of society. Now, here we are, 20 years later, poised on the precipice of (and rapidly accelerating into) the most profound shift in planetary consciousness the world has ever experienced. Fortunately, the ancient Maya priests who foresaw this time also perceived and left us the Tzolkin as a tool to help us transit this period successfully.

Here is the fundamental value of the Tzolkin; it is a Key unlocking the Archetypal Properties embodied in cycles of the 4th dimension, Time, that enable us to ascend into higher levels of Life and being human (in the Highest sense of the word). Time is about periodicity, frequency. Basically, Consciousness, the All in all, uses Time to effect change in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st dimensions. The Tzolkin is a map of how Consciousness does so relative to the expression of specific Aspects of Itself. The Tzolkin is a table of the Logic embodying specific, cyclic Patterns of Time facilitating the expression of those Aspects through all states of manifestation via electromagnetic radiation. When those Patterns are expressed in their purest Form, i.e. electromagnetic frequency, e.g. sound or light, that expression effects a psychoactive, ethereal bridge to the 4th dimension and the Consciousness that generates, progresses and sustains all that is.

At this time, the world understands the principals of using complimentary sounds to effect brain synchronization and cognitive enhancement. Now, we understand the validity of using tone to effect remarkable physiological and psychological shifts. Furthermore, we not only accept, we embrace the mathematical plausibility of a multidimensional universe beyond the accepted 4 dimensions; length, width, height/depth and time. Today, we understand the unity of these dimensions and of all things in such a way that we can comprehend how certain harmonic patterns transmitted in the 3D expression of Life may effect links to their concurrent Life expressions in the 4D, 5D and higher realms. We understand that sound can be used to effect vibrational states whereby higher levels of perception and informations are obtained. And now, as a result of the Tzolkin acoustic translations, we are capable of taking an ordinary CD and tangibly applying dynamics of the 4th dimension to radically and positively progress individual and communal consciousness, health and vitality.

Jesus (the Christ, not Martinez) said "They that have ears to hear, let them hear." He knew not everyone was prepared to hear the enlightening Truth that Consciousness was pouring through him, nevertheless, he spoke so those who could hear It would have the opportunity to do so. I'm sure there are many people reading this who are dismissing the above as New Age delusion, at best, and that does not negate the validity of what I'm sharing, nor of my experience and the experiences of many others who have used the Tzolkin acoustic translations. At one point, we lacked the instruments to confirm we live in an heliocentric planetary system, that information can be transmitted across open air without wires, that our cells are individual microcomputers. We may not have the instruments required to validate string theory or the practical linking of our 3D experience to the vital currents of the 4th and higher dimensions using sound and/or light, however we will. Those who do or may understand and are seeking the value of the easily applied tools for personal enhancement such as the Tzolkin translations (who share this online community) deserve to hear now, and they can.

The Live Earth concerts!! Wow, speaking of hearing, the sound quality was incredible. I was online through most of the event, jumping from country to country, continent to continent. I heard a lot of great music and I heard a consistent message. The message is that we are ready to drop our individual b.s. and start making the necessary shifts in consciousness and personal responsibility necessary for planetary survival and well being. It was a motivating experience. In "AIDS: ACT OF OF GOD OR THE PENTAGON?" i dealt with the most persistent and sinister of the alternative origin theories of AIDS, that of AIDS as a US military chemical-biological warfare agent deliberately or accidentally released upon an unsuspecting population. while unable to prove or disprove, the allegation, i marshalled enough evidence, circumstantial perhaps, but compelling, to at least show that the theory is far from being the incredible nonsense that denigrators of the theory, most of them paid government agents or mass media hacks (any difference?), have dismissed it as.

The official, government-approved theory is, as we should all be aware by now, that AIDS is the result of the human immunosuppressive virus (HIV),and for which there is no known, effective cure. but just as there are those who question the official origin theory and offer alternatives, there are those who question the official pronouncement of no-known-cure, and in fact, offer one of their own. to these people, what caused AIDS is not as important as how to stop its spread and cure those who already suffer from it. most of these cures, perhaps not so surprisingly, are rather simple and inexpensive, and, of course, ignored or suppressed.

It is not my intention in this survey of alternative AIDS cures to promote or recommend any of them. am neither a doctor nor a scientist; i can prove nothing. the information given here, in the immortal words of the Food and Drug Administration, is strictly for the purposes of education and research, and no intention to prescribe treatment is intended. that said, let us examine the alternatives.

currently, the only federally-approved substance available for relieving the symptoms of AIDS is the very expensive and highly toxic AZT (clinical name Zidovudine, brand name Retrovir), manufactured by the Burroughs-Wellcome pharmaceutical firm. first developed by the National Cancer Institute as an anti-cancer drug. it was purchased by Burroughs-Wellcome, offered B-W a chance to recoup their losses on their previously useless investment. in 1986, AZT was rushed through the FDA's approval procedure faster than any drug had ever been approved before, and "proven" to be effective and safe by studies that AIDS activists insist were shoddy, mismanaged and inconclusive. (1)

however, Burroughs-Wellcome mad a real "killing" on the toxic drug. it's stock "went through the roof" when the official announcement from the FDA was made. by the mid-nineties, stock market analysts predicted, Burroughs-Wellcome would earn about $2billion from sales of AZT, with estimated gross profits of $230 million for 1990 alone. (2)

a chemotherapeutic drug, AZT causes severe debilitating side effects in patients that it is administered to, such as depletion of both red and white blood cells, and bone marrow. for these reasons, expensive and time-consuming blood transfusions are necessary. this adds another $750 to the already extortionate $8,000-10,000 per patient per year price of AZT (the most expensive drug in history). (3) many AZT recipients, claiming that the cure ids worse than the disease, have gone off AZT and decided to take their chances, some seeking out alternative cures. this is an even more pressing concern when it is remembered that AZT only buys an AIDS victim about a year's worth of extra time. physicians are now urging AZT as a preventive upon patients testing positive for HIV antibodies, even when no AIDS symptoms are present (most recently seen in the Magic Johnson episode), operating under the unproven assumption, by no means proven, that HIV presence guarantees eventual full-blown AIDS which guarantees eventual death. it would seem that the only guarantee of death is to take AZT, especially as a preventive.

This is the situation that has made the development of alternatives to AZT so vital. fortunately, it would seem that they exist.

One of the most promising and oddly simple of these is AL 721, made from three active lipids extracted from chicken egg yolks, and blended together in a precise reaction of seven parts to tow parts to one part. hence its title, AL 721, which means Active Lipids AT A RATIO OF 7:2:1. it was developed in the late seventies at Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science team headed by Meir Shinitsky. AL 721 proved effective in treating many diseases: memory loss, drug addiction and alcoholism withdrawal, cystic fibrosis in children, and in repairing damaged immune systems, the latter making it a perfect candidate for treating AIDS.

But it wasn't until 1985 that any attempt was made to treat AIDS with AL 721. the results were positive, and seconded by (of all people) Dr. Robert Gallo of the National Cancer Institute, the man who "discovered" the HIV virus and remains the high priest of the HIV-as_sole-cause-of-AIDS cult. Gallo confirmed that AL 721 was an effective, nontoxic inhibitor of HIV with no side effects. (4)

The AL 721 treatment is simple enough. it is made into a buttery substance that is spread onto a piece of bread and eaten by the patient once in the morning for several weeks until the symptoms disappear. AL 721 works by stripping away the cholesterol-hardened membranes of virally infected cells with lecithin, a substance that AL 721 us rich in. returning the cell membranes to a fluid, pliable, and healthy condition. envelope viruses like HIV, which are armored in rigid shells, are then unable to interact with, and infect, the healthy cells. it doesn't so much destroy the HIV virus as it weakens it , by extracting the cholesterol from the infected cell membrane. the HIV is then rendered inactive. (5)

In 1986, Dr. Yehuda Skornick of Tel Aviv treated thirty AIDS patients in this manner, only one died, the rest, it is reported, returned home in revitalized health. patients remained, at last report, without symptoms for as long as 19 months. (6)

AL 721 is now the exclusive property of a Los Angeles-based company called Ethigen, which received the international rights for manufacturing and marketing from the Weizmann Institute in 1982, before it was realized how effective AL 721 could be in use against AIDS. the release of AL 721 to the people who needed it most was stalled. Ethigen claimed not to have the minimum amount needed to finance FDA drug testing (about $50 million), and the National Institute of Health sat on it, favoring the more lucrative AZT. (7) AIDS activists accused Ethigen of holding out for federal drug tests and approval for reasons of venality, pointing out that AL 721 could have been easily and quickly released to the public by marketing it as a food substance rather than as a drug. underground clinics sprang up in the meantime to produce their own AL 721 and sell it at cost to those in need. five months after Celia Farber's SPIN column exposed the whole sordid mess, Ethigen announced that it planned to market AL 721 as a nutritive (8). so far i have come across no reports of its being hailed as a miracle cure for AIDS. whether that is the fault of Ethigen or of the same mass media that continues to harp on the looming danger of the AIDS epidemic while choosing to ignore all options to AZT, i don't know. it would be interesting to discover how many AIDS sufferers- including those now deceased- even knew of its existence.

The other alternative AIDS cures are well known to the medical establishment: penicillin and typhoid vaccine. the problem, from the viewpoint of the AMA/FDA/CDC/NIH/NCI axis, is that to admit to either of them being curative agents for AIDS is to automatically deny the official HIV/AZT catechism and accept the proposition, for which there seems to be much evidence, that AIDS is actually nothing more than another outbreak of a new strain of syphilis, misdiagnosed as a previously unknown disease.

First to make the AIDS/syphilis link was Joan McKenna, a research physiologist at the Institute for Thermobaric Studies in Berkeley, California. she noticed that the symptoms of those suffering from AIDS and syphilis were identical, that the two groups most devastated by AIDS, gay males and African heterosexuals, shared in common high rates of previous syphilis infection, abuse of antibiotics (which leads to immunosuppression), and seronegativity for syphilis in patients who were obviously syphilitic. in other words, blood tests were indicating that people who had syphilis didn't have the disease. this was due to chemically induced immunosuppression, from abuse of both antibiotics and "recreational" drugs like cocaine, qualudes, etc. (10)

However, it was two German doctors, Klaus-Uwe Dierig and Urbad Waldthaler, who initially began using massive doses of penicillin to successfully eliminate syphilitic symptoms in their AIDS patients. in 1988, they told Katie Leishman of the ATLANTIC MONTHLY that 'THE united States would nave never had such a high death toll from AIDS if our [American] doctors had been treating syphilis properly over the last twenty years." (11)

Syphilis, the most destructive and contagious of venereal diseases, is also the most resilient. known as the "great imitator" or "great masquerader<" it is as old as recorded history and prone to periodic outbreaks. it is the disease that won't go away, the one for which there seems to be no cure, no "magic bullet". just when humanity thinks it ha seen the last of it, it pops up again, nastier than ever. despite this, American physicians thought that they had conquered it in the 1950's through massive antibiotics use. instead of destroying the disease, they merely suppressed the symptoms, allowing the real culprit to burrow deep into the immune system "of those who had been [poorly] treated" for it, "causing it to smoulder away like an underground fire". (12) and biding its time to erupt once more, while being passed on to others.

Syphilis is not caused by a virus like HIV, but by a bacterium, a germ, called Treponema pallidum. a spirochete (because of its corkscrew shape, ironically enough). syphilis is notorious for the latency period between infection- it can penetrate every organ in the body within twelve hours of initial infection- and the first manifestations of symptoms. it is this characteristic of the Treponema pallidum, the ability to burrow directly into bodily cells, called intercellularity, that makes it so difficult to detect the spirochetes before they cause real damage, rendering treatment even more difficult, and in some cases impossible. (13)

Despite what seems like overwhelming evidence that AIDS is indeed nothing else but syphilis in a new disguise, there have been no shouts of "Eureka!" from the halls of the medical establishment. when Joan McKenna called the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta with her findings, they replied:

"Well, this isn't new." so i [McKenna] said, "what do you mean it isn't new?" and they said, "we've been getting calls for two years now from physicians who are treating men with AIDS, whose symptoms are consistent with secondary syphilis but whose blood work is negative." so i asked, "well, what are you doing about it?" and they said, "nothing." (14)

As Jon Rappoport states:

"Venereal disease would not be a popular interpretation of AIDS symptoms. no novelty in a discovery like this. there is no quick tie-in to research on new drugs or new vaccines, there is only better management of penicillin. there are no Novels waiting for the man who says, "look for syphilis in your AIDS patients". (15)

Which means that Dr. Stephen Caiazza won't be getting the Nobel Prize any time soon. a New York City physician specializing in immunological research, he became intrigued with the links he found between AIDS and syphilis when he noticed the paucity of syphilis cases when all other venereal diseases were flourishing, and the only cases of syphilis he was treating were AIDS patients with syphilitic symptoms. when treated with penicillin, their symptoms disappeared. (16) intrigued by McKenna's findings, he traveled with her to Germany to study the finding of Dierig and Waldthaler. his experiences there convinced Caiazza that he was on the right track. the standard America blood test for syphilis was no good, as patients who tested negative on it tested positive on the much more sophisticated blood tests used by the German doctors. that, coupled with the use of the wrong type of penicillin to treat syphilis, benzathine penicillin, which does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier as the syphilis spirochetes themselves can. therefor, when elimination of syphilis symptoms indicated that the penicillin had done its job, most doctors would terminate the penicillin infection under the mistaken assumption that the disease was cured. but in actuality, it continued to flourish within the spinal column, brain, and eyes, all organs beyond the reach of benzathine penicillin. to compensate for this, Caiazza included in his treatment protocol along with benzathine penicillin, the drug doxycycline, an antibiotic which can cross the blood-brain barrier and kills spirochetes when they are at their most vulnerable, when doubling (reproducing). (17)

the validity of Caiazza's theory would seem to be in his success rate. operating under the assumption that HIV was the cause of AIDS and antiviral drugs the only possible treatment, in his own words, "between 1982-1986 i lost somewhere in excess of 200 patients, which i believe...averages out to approximately one a week." (18) after he began working from the AIDS-as-syphilis hypothesis, and treating his patients with the benzathine penicillin doxycycline regimen,m in one year (1986), he lost only one patient our of 216. all were diagnosed as having either AIDS or AIDS-Related Complex (ARC). Caiazza reported that his ten sickest patients, who should have already been dead or close to it according to their initial prognoses, were recovered and living full, productive lives, with only minor AIDS-syphilis symptoms. (19)

if Dr. Caiazza has not solved the AIDS mystery, her certainly seems to have taken a step in the right direction. not that everyone is ruching to lay the laurel crown upon hi head. "Caiazza's work, like that of others who have strayed from the HIV herd, had been harshly criticized by his peers, and he has been continually monitored, to the point of harassment, by the New York State Health Department since his return from Europe in early 1987:. (20)

Dr. Caiazza himself is under no illusions as to why he is so unpopular. "i've talked to a number of officials in New York, both city and state, and they aren't interested at all" in his findings. (21) in his interview with Celia Farber in SPIN, when asked about his dealings with the medical establishment, he was completely candid.

he noted that he represented a threat to a powerful"whole retroviral industry mostly funded by the government", chief of whom are the AZT pushers at Burroughs-Wellcome. "i can do with a couple of hundred dollars of generic penicillin what has taken them $10,000 to do". ($10,000 being the cost of one year's supply of AZT for one patient). to drive home his point:

"let me tell you a true story: the penicillin i use is manufactured by a company i called up, and i spoke to the fellow in charge of research. i said, "i;m suing about two thousand dollars of your medicine a month. help me out a little bit. i can only treat rich people, give me some help so i can treat some poor people here" and you know what he said? he said, "listen, i'm going to be perfectly honest with you. you're dealing with a generic medicine here. we're in the process of developing some real, legitimate AIDS medicines. why should we give you $150,000 in order to prove that the medicines that we're working on, which are going to be incredibly profitable, aren't necessary?"

for Dr. Caiazza, that summed up the whole thing. and he concluded,

"there's no money in what i'm doing. there's no money for the doctor, there's no money for the pharmaceutical house, there's no money for the researcher, there's no money for the scientist. the only one who profits is the patient". (22)

another maverick who has challenged the AIDS party line and achieved success in treating AIDS patients for syphilis is Long Island medical technician Salvatore Catapano. Catapano was awarded a patent (one of three only) for AIDS treatment for his typhoid vaccine. the patent statement concludes: "it has been found that a complete immunization and remission of a person afflicted with AIDS may be achieved by the administration with typhoid vaccine with no observed toxicity". (23)

a researcher with over forty years experience in exploring cancer and venereal disease, Catapano first became acquainted with the study of syphilis while serving in the navy in the Pacific during World War Two. during the war, several members of his family died of cancer, which led Catapano away from the study of syphilis and toward the effort to discover a cure for the disease that robbed him of so many loved ones. Catapano rejected the approved treatments of chemo- and radiation therapies and focused instead on something that would bolster the body's own best defense mechanism, the immune system. he tried several different vaccines until, in 1970, he hit paydirt with the typhoid vaccine which proved superior in the reduction of cancer tumors and in stimulating the immune system's production of T lymphocyte cells., the very cells that the HIV virus allegedly destroys, according to the official theory (24). kin 1978, Catapano was able to have the National Cancer Institute perform animal experiments with his typhoid vaccine, and they confirmed the results. that Catapano, an independent researcher with no connections to any university or hospital, was able to have the NCI take his vaccine seriously enough to test it was the doing of its then director Dr. Arthur Upton, an unusually open-minded member of the medical establishment. Upton said, "people thought i was wasting my time talking to someone without an MD or other scientific credentials. but its easy to forget, now that science is such a well organized profession, that a century ago, it was conducted by amateurs". (25) to easy to forget, unfortunately, as the fortunes of the dissenters from the HIV establishment attest.

in 1982, Catapano began working with Dr. Miguel Cima in administering the typhoid vaccine to AIDS patients willing to risk the untested (on humans) treatment. Catapano was struck by the similarities of their symptoms to the syphilitics he saw during the war. all the symptoms were the same, even the mysterious Kaposi's Sarcoma and pneumocystis carinii pneumonia that were the two leading causes of death in AIDS patients. coming to the same conclusion that McKenna, Caiazza, Dierig and Waldthaler did, he surmised that AIDS was a bacterial not viral induced disease, and AIDS victims were "suffering from extraordinarily entrenched late-staging syphilis, its symptoms exaggerated by multiple exposures, the resulting depression of the immune system and misapplication of antibiotics and radiation. once the immune system is restored with typhoid vaccine...a course of penicillin should bring the patient into remission". (26)

so successful has Catapano's vaccine been, that since he was granted the patent in 1987, doctors all over the US have paid him the royalties to use his regimen (which demands strict adherence to his protocol otherwise it will be rendered ineffective and even possibly dangerous). Catapano insists that no other treatment should be used along with the typhoid vaccine, especially any chemotherapy or radiation. this precludes AZT, which Catapano "regards as a death sentence and its use as a double tragedy, because he is convinced that AIDS is really syphilis, which is treatable, and for which an anti-viral drug, like AZT, can do nothing". (27) Catapano was even approached by Burroughs-Wellcome, who were interested in using the typhoid vaccine as "an immune moderator" for their property. Catapano refused, and remarked: "why would anybody give daily chemotherapy to patients who are already severely immune suppressed" in's crazy. " (28)

Dr. Emmanuel Revici, the founder of the Institute of Applied Biology (164 91st st., New York, NY 10028< (212) 876-9669) has formulated yet another method of healing AIDS. Revici doesn't "cure" the patient as much as he enables him to heal himself. Revici's system postulates that good health comes from a balanced dualism between two opposite states of being which he designates as anabolic, when the immune system is in a positive mode of building up, and catabolic, when the immune system is in a negative mode of building down. in a healthy person, the anabolic-catabolic sequence fluctuates within one twenty-four hour period, providing just the right amounts of anabolic energy for daytime activities, while catabolic repairs are made during sleep. the pH balance between acids and alkalines must also be maintained. with anabolic activity, the level of alkalinity rises (high pH), and with catabolic activity, the acidity level is dominant (low pH). (29)

when an imbalance occurs, Revici treats it with the injection of lipids, or fatty acids, that help boost production of the t-cells that AIDS depletes. (lipids are also the active ingredient in AL 721). in the case of anabolic imbalance, lipid acids, sulfur, selenium, magnesium, and lipid-copper compounds are used; in the case of catabolic imbalance, lipid alcohols, lithium, zinc, and iron compounds are used. Revici's program operates in four stages: 1) antiviral agents are injected to combat primary viral infection; 2) the immune system is bolstered with refractory (disease-fighting) lipids; 3) the secondary opportunistic infections (usually Kaposi's Sarcoma or pneumocystis carinii pneumonia) is treated with the appropriate medication, antibiotics, antimicrobials, or antifungals; 4( the imbalance is categorized as anabolic or catabolic, and treated as required. (30)

Rivici's system requires the patient to be as involved in and responsible for his treatment as much as the physician. constant monitoring and charting of pH levels are necessary. yet he has produced near miraculous cures with this method, not only of AIDS patients, but also of terminal cancer patients who were told to "go home and die" by mainstream medical practitioners. like Salvatore Catapano. Revici will not treat patients on AZT. as one of his associates explained, "AZT will totally destroy the lipids." (31)

as could be expected, Dr. Revici has drawn the wrath of the medical establishment. among his more heinous crimes, apparently, is his tendency not to charge patients who can't afford treatment. one Long Island doctor, who also happened to be a lawyer, sued Dr. Revici for malpractice. the jury acquitted him, even though the judge directed the jury to find for malpractice leading to a US Court of Appeals decision that found for Revici, in what is considered a landmark, precedent-setting case for the rights of patients to seek alternative medical therapies. (32)

and as the devastation rates of catastrophic diseases like AIDS and cancer continue to grow, that precedent will be increasingly relied upon by desperate people fleeing the disaster area of mainstream medicine. when a Harvard Medical School biostatistician writes in the NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE that "we are losing the war on cancer", and when the war on AIDS looks like it was lost even before it began, the time has come to make a radical reappraisal of the current orthodoxy. and those few physicians who have done just that, like Emmanuel Revici, are attacked because of the threat they pose to that still lucrative disaster area.

traveling 360 degrees in the opposite direction from his colleagues in the medical establishment, and arriving at the destination sooner and with the least casualties, physicians like Emmanuel Revici have realized that freeing the human body from disease is not the same thing as replacing defective parts on an automobile.

"Revici would rather assist the body to heal itself, through a diligent, time-consuming, holistic process, than cutting, burning, and/or poisoning the disease. traditional solutions of surgery,y, radiation, and toxic chemotherapy have been shown in case after case to cause extreme physical and emotional trauma, often exacerbating the symptoms and speeding progression to an excruciatingly painful, and tremendously expensive, death". (33)

there are other, perhaps promising, treatments on the horizon, all said to cure AIDS. there is Compound Q, of Tricosanthin, a drug derived from the root of the Chinese cucumber. FDA foot-dragging, as usual, led to an underground system of clinics where the desperate could risk everything on the remote possibility that an unknown substance could be the Holy Grail. (34) in Kenya, scientists at Kemri, the Kenyan Medical Research Institute in Nairobi, developed kemron, and oral alpha interferon, small doses of which have been said to eliminate major AIDS symptoms within merely a few weeks. (35) once again, early extravagant claims led to an informal underground developing around the drug which, like Compound Q, is said to raise T-cell counts to high, healthy levels. even more incredible claims have been made for such oddly simple treatments like megadoses of ascorbate (vitamin C)which "disarm the unwanted antibodies and at the same time augment the immune system's attack on the parasite". according to Dr. Robert Cathcart. (36)

another purported AIDS cure found in every household is hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). when diluted to one half of 1% or less, it can be administered orally, the highly oxygenated solution destroys the HIV virus, or whatever anaerobic parasite (which flourish without free oxygen) infect the patient. Dr. Horst Kief and other German doctors claimed to have destroyed not only AIDS but "herpes, hepatitis, Epstein-Barr, cytomegalovirus, and other lipid-envelope viruses" through a hyper-oxygenation process whereby blood withdrawn from the patient is infused with electrified ozone (O3), and then the blood, saturated with the oxygen-enhanced, virus-destroying ozone, is infused back into the patient. this is done from twice a week to twice a day, depending upon the severity of the case. (36) since most of these claims have been "anecdotal" rather than the doubleblind/placebo, controlled studies favored by the American medical establishment, they have been conveniently disregarded. (37)

in light of all this, it seems hard to deny that AIDS may not be a new and deadly disease, relentless and impervious t treatment, elusive o even plausible explanation as to its origin, but the latest outbreak of an old disease that refuses to disappear, a serious menace but one will enough understood, and capable of being effectively treated. this is hardly good news: no one expects AIDS victims to suddenly shout, 'yippee! i don't have an immunosuppressive virus after all, i just have syphilis!" but- and this is a big but- it should come as a relief to those suffering from AIDS and those attempting to treat them, as well as the millions of us scared silly by the doomsday rhetoric of the last few years, to know that this is not an insurmountable plague, or the looming death of the human race as we know it. it's not the wrath of some genocidal deity even crueler than his fallible creations, or the implacable revenge of an outraged Mother Nature trying to extinguish her most destructive parasite; or the secret biowarfare weapon of either Us or Them...

at least, that's how you would think it would be by now. bit it isn't. you only have to watch the CDC's "public service" commercials on television, or read an article in a mainstream news magazine to realize that the HIV myth is still dominant. why? for one thing, the medical profession has made no attempt to retract its collective error or revise its findings. too many egos and reputations, not to mention too much money, on the line. it's quite embarrassing, this, the single greatest fuck up in the history of modern medicine. never mind that people are dying, and will continue to die, needlessly: slowly and painfully deteriorating day by day because of this willful blindness. can the medical establishment really be this vain, this ignorant, this stupid? or is there, after all, some more sinister, covert purpose at work here, are we back in conspiracy theory territory again? what looks like the deliberate suppression of the simple solution to a falsely elaborate mystery can be seen to point that way.

from 1932-1972- forty years- the US Public Health Service, the direct precursor of the current Center for Disease /Control, conducted an experiment on approximately 400 black men in Macon County, Alabama, the now notorious Tuskegee experiment. during this time, these black men, all suffering from syphilis but kept ignorant of the fact by the doctors running the study, were monitored as to the progression of the disease and its effects on them. basically,m it was an experiment to determine at close range the condition and behavior of men slowly and unknowingly dying of a vicious venereal disease, purely for the purposes of scientific progress, of course. this went on while the Nazis conducted similar experiments in the death camps, while a penicillin treatment for syphilis was devised and denied these men, and while the civil rights movement arose. yet is wasn't until 1972 that the Tuskegee experiment was ended after a disgusted federal worker, who had been trying since 1966 to stop the experiment, leaked the story to the press. otherwise it would still be going on today. (38)

EEG Advice

Hi people!
I just recieved my first EEG machine. Does anyone here have some salty advice about using EEGs in general? I'm completely new to this. So any help is appreciated.

I'm using it for a set of experiments that use non-conscious feedback to create/control various types of electronic media. You can see a description of the first experiment here: http://www.nervebox.com

The machine is a Grass model 8-10. Kinda Frankenstien-ish. And I'll need to hack into it, replacing the pen actuators with an analog/digital data logger.

the book i wrote with CS Hyatt back in print

Back in 1988, I wrote a book with the infamous Christopher S. Hyatt, PhD called, "Modern Shaman's Guide to a Pregnant Universe", which stayed in print for a few years and then disappeared. That happens a lot in the high stakes publishing world. What doesn't happen nearly as often is when a book gets brought back into print many years later. Today I just received a box of my "author's copies" of the 2006 edition of Pregnant Universe (which I can also sell for full profit and autograph them, too.)

Of my seven books now in print, this was handsdown the most fun to put together (writing books isn't my idea of a good time) mostly because Hyatt and i finished it after writing it together every day for a few weeks. For those who do not know about Dr. Hyatt, he is one of the chief heads of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a brilliant psychologist and author of numerous books. He is also a very funny and very dangerous man (read his books to know what I mean).

I have long held a pseudo post-modern opinion on many things in life – including consciousness. That is to say, I find objective reality to be nothing more than a fabricated construct generated by the human psyche. To some degree, I truly believe that we generate reality. Everything you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch are mediated through cognitive processes; i.e. without a brain to filter the supposed “separate” environment we all live “in”, our “separate” environment would cease to exist. For instance, I’m starring at this computer screen right now. My eyes tell me it’s there, my hands reaffirm this belief, as do my ears, nose, and tongue (if I were to so choose to sense with them).

Now, the question is: suppose we were to remove all five of my sense organs. Then what? Would I have ANY ability to “know” a computer existed? How about anything at all? Even with our wonderful cortex, we would be worthless in such a situation. Thus, we are forced to conclude that “reality” is really a part of us and generated large impart due to the dynamic interplay between our sensations and mind. Take away either of those and you have no Virginia Tech, no USAF, no nothing.

Okay, enough of that. You’re probably wondering, “What the hell does any of that jargon have anything to do with dreams?” Well, my answer: everything and nothing. More cogently, my intent was simply to “loosen” your grip on the belief that there is a reality (that means anything at all) existing separate from the person. We are part and parcel of the universe - it is all inside of us, or rather we are 100% rapped up in it. Regardless, let’s now move on to dreams

Okay, so now let’s open Pandora’s Box. Let us for the moment presuppose that we generate the realities we live in. Now, it is quite obvious that while dreaming, we do the same. That is, we create a different reality while sleeping every time we sleep or daydream or simply use our imaginations. Now, these “dreams” can sometimes be very real to the dreamer. (So much so that the only reason we do not literally act out our “dreams” when sleeping is because the brain “shuts off” neurotransmitters that would cause us to move.) Have you ever woken up in a cold sweat or emotionally charged after coming back to this “normal” reality?

Think about.

Or should I say, quickly create a reality in your mind that includes constituents concerning what I have been writing about.

Now, let’s generalize this “dreaming” idea a little. Bear with me now…open your mind for a second and consider this: suppose we are not the only dreamers.

What if we were just another being’s dream? Let’s call this arbitrary being, JEFF. JEFF would obviously “exist” in a different reality. JEFF would also be omniscient and omnipresent. Further, we would not be aware of JEFF, just as our dream entities are not aware of us…or are they and we just don’t know…hmm, it must be possible under this theory for dream entities to become aware of their dreamers…could this be what some label “realization”, “enlightenment”, or “mystical experience”?

What if JEFF is just sleeping, or rather, just imagining our reality up in HIS mind/brain? Can this be verified? Probably not, but can it be discredited? Probably not

Now, you’re probably thinking, “That would have to be one hell of a dream to create this world…our world obeys the laws of physics and is orderly, unlike our crazy dreams that seem to do whatever they want. Furthermore, JEFF would have to be dreaming for a very long time too since we’ve been here for so long!”

My response: Not necessarily. For example, when we dream, we assume that the entities in our dreams are not “real”; that they’re just figments of our imagination…random neural networks firing at the pre-synaptic level primarily in the brain stem. But, we have no way to know this for certain. It’s just as plausible that they are sentient beings with consciousness of their own – different? Possibly, but still it is logically possible that they could also be “dreaming” up new realities in which the beings in their dreams are also “dreaming” up new realities, and so on and so forth.

I’d like to pause at this point and emphasize that modern day science still has no worthwhile understanding of why, how, and what we dream. So though this theory might seem outlandish it can hardly be thrown out the window entirely.

Let’s continue. How do we know that certain “laws” of our particular dreams are not obeyed (e.g. laws of physics)? When dreaming you are not aware of the full picture; you get glimpses here and there of intensity within your dreamscape. There is no decidable way to determine whether or not “laws” are created and obeyed by your dream entities every time you dream, and thus it is logically possible for such laws to exist and be followed. Furthermore, time – a construct generated by consciousness – changes. At the very least, while dreaming one is not aware of how long the dream has been going on for – seconds? days? years? millinia? Do any of those constructs even make sense to talk about from JEFF’s perspective? The only way JEFF would ever know how long the dream was after “waking up” to his quotidian reality. Outside confirmation is necessary. Also note that the dream entities would hardly have the chance to determine how long the dream has been going on for since they can never receive “outside confirmation”…at least while they’re still in the dream.

So what do we have now? A generalized theory of what reality is and where it comes from. From this conceptual model we can explain theories of God (e.g., JEFF - the dreamer), theories of quantum mechanics, relativity, etc…

Is there an original JEFF from which dreams within dreams within dreams, etc…flow out from? There’s probably no way to really know. Perhaps that is God – the original JEFF.

*Note that you can replace dreamer with creator at any point throughout since when dreaming you are essentially creating a completely knew reality. You are acting as God – creator of reality and part of it all the while.

In the stoner stereotype, pot smokers and dying brain cells go hand in hand. However, new research suggests the situation may be more uplifting than that. A drug that functions as concentrated marijuana does may spur neurogenesis, the process by which the brain gives birth to new nerve cells.

Previous research had suggested that neurogenesis happens only in select locations in the brain, such as the hippocampus, a region involved in learning and memory. Some studies have shown that this process is inhibited by most illicit drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. However, says Xia Zhang of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, marijuana's effect on neurogenesis has not been clear.

He and his colleagues started investigating this mystery by searching cell surfaces in live, cultured slices of rat hippocampus for receptors that respond to marijuana and a few other similar drugs, called cannabinoids. They reasoned that if marijuana affected neurogenesis in the hippocampus, then cells in that area must have a way to recognize the drug. Sure enough, 95 percent of hippocampus cells responsible for neurogenesis showed evidence of cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors, one of two receptors that respond to cannabinoid drugs.

Next, Zhang's team incubated samples of rat hippocampus with a solution containing HU210, a drug that stimulates CB1 receptors with a strength 100 times greater than that of pot. Other rat-hippocampus cells were incubated with the same solution minus the drug or with AM281, a drug that blocks CB1 receptors. After 2 days, the researchers found a significant increase in the number of new brain cells in the samples incubated with HU210, but no significant increase of such cells in the other samples.

Finally, the researchers injected adult rats with various doses of HU210. A single high-dose injection seemed to make no significant difference in the number of new nerve cells. However, animals injected with high daily doses of the drug over the course of 2 weeks had about 30 percent more newborn nerve cells than did rats given AM281 or a solution without either drug.

Animals given the 2-week course of HU210 also showed less anxiety and depressionlike behavior than did rats not given the drug. When the researchers irradiated the rats' hippocampi with X rays, which kill off new neurons, animals given HU210 responded to these tests much as did animals that didn't receive the drug. These results suggest that, while these new neurons probably don't increase intelligence, they could be responsible for antianxiety and antidepressive effects, says Zhang.

He and his team report their findings in the November Journal of Clinical Investigation.

While data suggesting that cannabinoid drugs can accelerate neurogenesis are "interesting and potentially promising," it's too early to tell whether high doses of marijuana over long periods have a similar effect on depression and anxiety in people, says Ron Duman, a neuroscientist at Yale University. "There is very little clinical evidence demonstrating that cannabinoid administration produces an antidepressant response," he says.

Treating Anxiety And Depression...

This was originally a response to Benjamin's reply to the "Marijuana-like Drug" posting on the forum, but instead of digressing from that thread's intent, I've posted it here.

There are quite a few natural alternatives to anxiety and depression. Sam-E, for one, or perhaps better yet-- L5-HydroxyTryptophan, also known as 5-HTP. This is a derivative from the African Griffonia plant, and is the byproduct of the amino acid Tryptophan... 5-HTP is, quite literally, THE PRECURSOR TO SERATONIN. Seratonin deficiency is directly related to anxiety disorder and depression. This stuff MAKES seratonin in the brain, and when used in conjunction with Omega Fatty Acids, which directly stimulate neuro-receptor sites (improving the function of seratonin), then watch out!

I've looked strongly into natural remedies for depression and anxiety, and I happen to know that ALOT of factors are involved. ATTITUDE and what we CHOOSE to focus our awareness on play MAJOR roles-- our focus determines our reality. Asking "Why does this always happen to me?" will create a different reality for us than asking the question "How can I turn this around for myself?". You know-- the half-full, half-empty thing. But nutrition and bio-chemicals DO ALSO play a part, and both long-standing research and my OWN experiences have proven 5-HTP to be a formidible ally against the wear-and-tear that an industrialized, fast-paced, open-all-nite society may wreak on a person's mind and brain.

I'll tell you the bottom line... Vitamin C and Vitamin B6 particularly (plus B3, B12, and Folic Acid-- another B vitamin) are cofactors that assist in the metabolization of 5-HTP. An enterically coated capsule of 5-HTP will ensure greater absorption into the brain... "Soloray" markets a 5-HTP capsule with added St. John's Wort (which blocks the re-absorption of seratonin, thus acting like an SSRI drug, effectively "increasing" the amount of seratonin used without actually increasing the amount of seratonin made in the brain), but the only enterically coated capsule of 5-HTP that I've seen is Soloray's "L5 HydroxyTryptophan", which ALSO has a bit of Vitamin C and B6 added to it. 100 mg per dose, three times a day (one of those 3 being close to bed-time). Again, using Essential Fatty Acids (fish oils, or Flax and Evening Primrose oils) would help greatly ON THEIR OWN, as they help seratonin along your neuropathways, but they work greater-- as you can imagine-- with 5-HTP.

Two of the best books I've read on the subject:

"The Instinct To Heal - Curing Stress, Anxiety, And Depression Without Drugs And Without Talk Therapy", by David Servan-Schreiber... and

"Optimum Nutrition For The Mind", by Patrick Holford.

I hope this info helps someone out there. I've got my OWN story, people, born into a family full of trans-generational issues... like any of you, too, I'm sure. I've been personally motivated to find answers, and I'm telling you, THE INFO IS OUT THERE. DRUGS AND THIER LIST OF SIDE-EFFECTS ARE *NOT* THE BEST OPTION for most of us. There's no need to "hope". There are EXTREMELY effective alternatives, though results may be gradual and require a wee-bit of patience, unlike popping a med (though by day three, users often feel the first effects of 5-HTP when taken devotedly).

if we do not have problems to solve, we get restless. thats why teenagers go aound creating problems from throwing stones through windows to getting really stoned. they are literaly creating a problem - a MATTER that needs attention - because there is not a BIG enough problem.

the bigger the problem, the greater the urgency to solve it, therefore the evolutionary process gets tweeked

The liberal programs failed because they were not involved in the pattern that connects. No one has ever really looked at what it means to educate an entire society contextually. Why? Because the richness of human psychological and educational processes has been ignored and derided during the recent reign of quantity. The popular absorption with the prodigies of technology not only inhibited the development of a mentality attuned to more subtle inward understandings of reality and social process, but it also encouraged a dangerous inteface and modeling of human personality with mechanistic forms. These forms are fine for machines. They do not work for human beings. When human beings become secondary to the so-called efficiency of a given system they almost invariably fail in large numbers.

The response to failure in the schools has been to add programs, not to rethink education and get everybody to succeed--which from my perspective, and from what we are now beginning to discover about the mind and brain, is very possible. This assumes that there are many different kind of intelligence and different ways of educating that intelligence.

Educational transformation is the time for waking up. It is enormously significant that the current crisis in consciousness, the loss of a sense of reality felt by so many, the destruction of, and disillusionment with, education, and the rising tides of alienation occur concomitantly with the ecological destruction of the planet by technological means. We are forced into the awareness that we are not encapsulated bags of skin dragging around dreary little egos. Rather, a human being is an organism-environment.

If we are to survive, we have no choice but to reverse the ecological, technological, and linear-analytic plunder. That will mean discovering forms of consciousness and fulfillment and forms of human energy and learning apart from those of consumption, control, aggrandizement, pass-the-test, and manipulation. ...

One of the biggest frauds perpetrated on the American people is the Republican Party’s image as the party of individual liberty and limited government. After almost four years of the Bush administration, there shouldn’t be much left of that image. A quick survey of Bush’s record on domestic and military spending, deficits, foreign intervention, civil liberties, international trade, education, agriculture, and Medicare expansion is all it takes to see that the GOP is nowhere to look for a lightening of the burdens of government.

It has also done some things that have gotten far less attention but are no less ominous for individual liberty. For example, shortly after taking office, President Bush declared a “New Freedom Initiative.” Anyone familiar with politics (and George Orwell) knows to be wary of things with names like that. According to the White House, this Initiative is “a comprehensive strategy for the full integration of people with disabilities into all aspects of American life.” It is intended to build on the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed by the first President Bush. As predicted, the ADA has turned out to be a costly interventionist nightmare that interferes with private enterprise by opening the door to massive lawsuits for “discrimination” against people with whatever the government defines as a disability.

Part of the new Initiative is the portentously titled New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, which was set up in April 2002. More than a year later the Commission issued its recommendations, and the Bush administration has ordered federal agencies to carry them out. This has gotten scant attention.

The expanded government intervention called for in the Commission report would be objectionable even had the subject been well-defined diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and stroke. That the subject is mental illness — a murky term that refers not to real illness at all but to bothersome behavior, thoughts, and feelings — makes the government’s plans all the more dangerous. People have a right to avoid being diagnosed for medical ailments and to reject treatment. Those rights are part of the traditional American libertarian philosophy. Thus, while government intervention in standard medical care is wrong, at least no one can be declared a patient and subjected to medical procedures against his will.

This is not the case with mental illness. People are not necessarily free to avoid diagnosis and to reject treatment, including powerful drugs and confinement in an institution. Diagnoses are made against people’s will routinely and psychiatric treatments are imposed under the threat of force. (Forced treatments are in fact assaults.) So when the government promises to expand mental health “services,” advocates of individual liberty must shudder because it means coercing more people than are already being coerced. Moreover, the Commission’s plan has been criticized as being concocted by a corrupt alliance of political interests and drug companies, whose revenues for costly psychiatric drugs would grow along with increased government involvement.

I have been busy finishing up my book. I am really excited about how it has turned out. Last weekend, I went to a book marketing conference, and learned all kinds of cool stuff about how to self publish a book.

My biggest problem right now is coming up with a title that is both descriptive and catchy. Will you help me come up with a title? The title is supposed to have two parts, the heart, and the head.
The heart is something juicy that grabs you.
The head is some thing descriptive that explains what the book is about.
Great titles are both tricky to come up with, and very, very important.
I would really appreciate your help.

Here are some tips:
How can you describe it without sounding too intellectual.. but intelligent?
What is a title that is catchy, but not kitschy?
The title should imply some kind of coming together,
a synthesis, a merging of some sort.
Fewer words are better.

Here is the way I describe the book as a whole:

This book is an integrative approach to psycho-spiritual transformation. It weaves together philosophies and techniques from a variety of schools of thought in a new way, creating
an overview that touches on many aspects of the human experience. Some of he prevalent resources for information that I have drawn from are Tantric and Buddhist philosophy, Jungian and transpersonal psychology, core shamanism, western mystery school traditions, as well as the new physics, a la 'What the Bleep." It is a holographic approach to personal growth.
The book presents ten basic metaphysical principles, separated into ten chapters. The chapters are organized by principles of numerological correspondences. For example, the first chapter deals with the basic unity of all creation, the second relates to duality and polarity, and so on and so forth.

Margulis calls the 'autopoietic Gaian' view of nature, there lies a
bone of theoretical contention that dates well back into the
nineteenth century. There were always biologists and philosophers
who believed that the evolutionary process was more intricate than
Darwinian natural selection allowed for. Darwin, reviewing the
origins of his theory, identified Thomas Malthus's law of population
as the catalyst that had acted upon his years of observation in the
field to produce the idea of natural selection. Malthus's famous
essay was not a biological treatise at all, but an item of economic
theory (if not social propaganda) written under the influence of the
new schol of classical economics. Malthus sought to delineate the
mechanism that governed the growth and decline of population as a

dismal moral views on sexuality. Writing as a clergyman, he took

society, Darwin read the ethos of industrial capitalism into the
jungle, concluding that all life had to be what it had become in the
early milltowns: a vicious 'struggle for existence.'"

Jesus was almost certainly a cannabis user and an early proponent of the medicinal properties of the drug, according to a study of scriptural texts ...

The study suggests that Jesus and his disciples used the drug to carry out miraculous healings.

The anointing oil used by Jesus and his disciples contained an ingredient called kaneh-bosem which has since been identified as cannabis extract, according to an article by Chris Bennett in the drugs magazine, High Times, entitled Was Jesus a Stoner?

The incense used by Jesus in ceremonies also contained a cannabis extract, suggests Mr Bennett, who quotes scholars to back his claims.

"There can be little doubt about a role for cannabis in Judaic religion," Carl Ruck, professor of classical mythology at Boston University said.

Referring to the existence of cannabis in anointing oils used in ceremonies, he added: "Obviously the easy availability and long-established tradition of cannabis in early Judaism...would inevitably have included it in the [Christian] mixtures."

Mr Bennett suggests those anointed with the oils used by Jesus were "literally drenched in this potent mixture. Although most modern people choose to smoke or eat pot, when its active ingredients are transferred into an oil-based carrier, it can also be absorbed through the skin".

Quoting the New Testament, Mr Bennett argues that Jesus anointed his disciples with the oil and encouraged them to do the same with other followers.

This could have been responsible for healing eye and skin diseases referred to in the Gospels.

"If cannabis was one of the main ingredients of the ancient anointing oil and receiving this oil is what made Jesus the Christ and his followers Christians, then persecuting those who use cannabis could be considered anti-Christ," Mr Bennett concludes. - The Guardian

Spy vs. Spy

Neighbors spying on neighbors? Mothers forced to turn in their sons or daughters? These are images straight out of George Orwell's 1984, or a remote totalitarian state. We don't associate them with the land of the free and the home of the brave, but that doesn't mean they couldn't happen here. A senior congressman, James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), is working quietly but efficiently to turn the entire United States population into informants--by force.

Sensenbrenner, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman, has introduced legislation that would essentially draft every American into the war on drugs. H.R. 1528, cynically named "Safe Access to Drug Treatment and Child Protection Act," would compel people to spy on their family members and neighbors, and even go undercover and wear a wire if needed. If a person resisted, he or she would face mandatory incarceration.

Here's how the "spy" section of the legislation works: If you "witness" certain drug offenses taking place or "learn" about them, you must report the offenses to law enforcement within 24 hours and provide "full assistance in the investigation, apprehension and prosecution" of the people involved. Failure to do so would be a crime punishable by a mandatory minimum two-year prison sentence, and a maximum sentence of 10 years.

Here are some examples of offenses you would have to report to police within 24 hours:

You find out that your brother, who has children, recently bought a small amount of marijuana to share with his wife;
You discover that your son gave his college roommate a marijuana joint;
You learn that your daughter asked her boyfriend to find her some drugs, even though they're both in treatment.

In each of these cases you would have to report the relative to the police within 24 hours. Taking time to talk to your relative about treatment instead of calling the police immediately could land you in jail.

In addition to turning family member against family member, the legislation could also put many Americans in danger by forcing them to go undercover to gain evidence against strangers.

Even if the language that forces every American to become a de facto law enforcement agent is taken out, the bill would still impose draconian sentences on college students, mothers, people in drug treatment and others with substance abuse problems. If enacted, this bill will destroy lives, break up families, and waste millions of taxpayer dollars.

Despite growing opposition to mandatory minimum sentences from civil rights groups to U.S. Supreme Court Justices, the bill eliminates federal judges' ability to give sentences below the minimum recommended by federal sentencing guidelines. This creates a mandatory minimum sentence for all federal offenses, drug-related or not.

H.R. 1528 also establishes new draconian penalties for a variety of non-violent drug offenses, including:

Five years for anyone who passes a marijuana joint at a party to someone who, at some point in his or her life, has been in drug treatment;
Ten years for mothers with substance abuse problems who commit certain drug offenses at home (even if their children are not at home at the time);
Five years for any person with substance abuse problems who begs a friend in drug treatment to find them some drugs.

These sentences would put non-violent drug offenders behind bars for as long as rapists, and they include none of the drug treatment touted in the bill's name.

At a time when everyone from the conservative American Enterprise Institute to the liberal Sentencing Project is slamming the war on drugs as an abject failure, Sensenbrenner is trying to escalate it, and to force all Americans to become its foot soldiers. Instead of enacting new mandatory minimums, federal policymakers should look toward the states. A growing number have reformed their drug sentencing laws, including Arizona, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, New Mexico, New York and Texas, and they have proved it is possible to both save money and improve public safety.

Simply put, there is no way H.R. 1528 can be fixed. The only policy proposal in recent years that comes close to being as totalitarian as this bill is Operations TIPS, the Ashcroft initiative that would have encouraged -- but not required -- citizens to spy on one another. Congress rightfully rejected that initiative and they should do the same with H.R. 1528. Big Brother has no business here in America.

These might be a bit too corny for my deep tribemates, but I always enjoy the movies "Blade Runner", "Total Recall", "Minority Report", "Equalibrium" and "I Come In Peace" (aka "Dark Angel"). And, though I haven't seen the movie yet, I loved the Philip K. Dick story "Paycheck".

For you neuromantics who are also agoraphobics there's the poignant French love story "Thomas In Love."

Did I mention "Vanilla Sky" or the French movie that came before it but whose name escapes me and I'm too lazy to look up at the moment?

One of the best television mini-series I've ever seen and hope to see again one day, was "Cold Lazarus" which doesn't seem to be available for viewing anywhere in any form.

I guess I could go on and on and on regarding this topic, but I'd rather leave some space to find out what everyone else likes and recommends.

Writing a New Language

Writing is generally defined as composing thoughts in the form (and within the context) of words, phrases, paragraphs, etc., as the language of the culture ordains.

Our purpose here is to leave the established culture behind, recognizing it to have been a successful and honorable step in human evolution, but, importantly, that it is now an outmoded and unsustainable system. It has become clear that the established culture (EC) is obsessed with the physical aspects of Reality, including materiality, territory, motion and linearity, and that this attachment limits the adaptability of our cultural system to the changed environment it has brought about.

It is further observed that EC is primarily an outgrowth of western European roots, as is evidenced by the predominance of English, and secondarily Romance and Germanic languages, as the international languages of government, commerce, and the arts. It is characteristic of those dominant languages (and the culture they reflect, sustain, and reinforce) that nouns are the most important part of speech, identifying physical manifestations -- people, places, and things (or more abstract concepts as if they were physical things) -- as central to our attention, our values, and the focus of our efforts. Verbs constitute the other most important part of speech, denoting actions. The most common sentence structure is subject (noun) -- verb -- object (noun). Thus the pattern of our thinking is Doer -- Action -- Done-to, which carries assumptions and implied approval of dominance and control, production and consumption, cause-and-effect orientation, and a strictly linear, unidirectional concept of time (perhaps engendered but certainly reinforced by the dominant religious philosophy of our mortal struggle against death).

With a shared conviction that human culture is due for regeneration -- a fundamental change, regenesis -- we take the opening of the Gospel of St. John in the Bible's New Testament to heart: "In the beginning was the word," and our writing here is intended to be more than a composition of thoughts within the literary context of our EC, as we propose to here begin the writing of a new language.

We find it advantageous, at this beginning point in the cocreation of a new cultural structure, that the EC has, by the nature of the very aspects we most want to change, established a sociological characteristic of fragmentation, and a generalized psychological trait of alienation. Thus are we facilitated in our selection of a competitve role for ourselves (perhaps the ultimate in specialization: supplanters of that which has produced us), and we are culturally encouraged to discover what makes us different -- what it is about the EC that feels most threatening. It is through this sense of alienation (and our belief that more sustainable cultures of the past and future have been and will be more wholistically and cooperatively based) that we feel motivated to make the effort we offer at this time -- this time in our personal evolution and this time in the evolution of human culture -- to commit our attention and energy toward change that will feel like meaningful progress. We also expect that others will feel the attraction we're feeling and expressing, toward a more peaceful and joyful, more appreciative and allowing, more compassionate and willing participation in creating a destiny we choose together.

How shall we begin this enormous enterprise? Let's begin with a question, "How?" And let's resolve to keep that question open until we've found an answer that meets all our needs, that lays a firm and well-tested foundation for what we intend. For now, let's pose the question this way: How would we choose to represent our highest values, perhaps even the divinity to which we personally (and culturally?) aspire, as a primary "part of speech?" We have observed a few millennia of history based upon nouns acting upon nouns. Even intellectual concepts, internal feelings, motives and patterns and values have been named as if they were objective things, capable of acting upon other things and subject to the actions of other "things."

Let's tentatively and arbitrarily (or not so) take the experience of enlightenment, joy, bliss, creativity, ecstasy, love, divine unity, god(d)-essence (isn't this really all just different interpretations of one thing?) as our baseline: the root of our being, our highest objective, and maybe even the purpose (and means?) of all existence. Let's put nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, and whatever other conceptual elements, helpers and modifiers we might employ, all subordinate to that most fulfilling, most satisfying, most abundantly radiant moment of experience -- that moment that does not submit to judgment. Whatever that experience is for you who have lived it, you who are experiencing it Now, you who will some day in the fullness of divine awareness Be it -- let that be our ground-point, the format for our language, our understandings, our assumptions and expectations. Let's put our mutuality of that awesome, mysterious experience at the bedrock level in the structure we're creating, so that the universality of joy will be at the base of our communications, and all our comprehensions of life, our environment, and one another will be grounded in that unity.

OK, we're well beyond EC now! We've abandoned "things" as our basic orientation to existence, having put love in their place. Already we may be feeling an integration, a personal association with All, as contrasted with our traditional identity as a separate "thing" amidst an array of other discreet entities. Already there's a basis of universality -- a root experience out of which all perceptions, all thoughts and feelings can be recognized to be relevant to one another. It may take some practice before we can see all energetic and physical manifestations as expressions within that fundamental context, but we'll give it some "time."

New Tribe: "Polymaths: Universal Humans"

A polymath (also known as a polyhistor) is a person who excels in multiple fields, particularly in both arts and sciences. The most common term for this is Renaissance man. Other terms for this are Homo universalis and Uomo Universale which in Latin and Italian respectively is translated as "Universal Man". Many notable polymaths lived during the European Renaissance period, and a rounded approach to education was typical of the ideals of the humanists of the time. A gentleman or courtier of that era was expected to speak several languages, play a musical instrument, write poetry and so on, thus fulfilling the Renaissance ideal. During the Renaissance, Baldassare Castiglione, in his The Book of the Courtier, wrote a guide to being a polymath. On the other hand "polymath" may be applied more strictly, taking Leonardo da Vinci or Goethe as prime examples, and requiring a universality of approach. A polymath may not necessarily be classed as a genius, which is a more debatable classification; and certainly a genius may not display the breadth to qualify as a polymath. Albert Einstein is a prime example of a genius who was not a polymath.

I like to think that everything has consciousness. Even plants. Though I'm no big tree-hugger. Stevie Wonder did a whole album entitled "The Secret Life of Plants" based on studies done to assertain wether plants were "aware".

When this subject comes up I often think about the little speech that Chief Dan George gives to Clint Eastwood in the movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales". He goes on about how, "the indians believe that all things have a spirit. The trees, the mountains, the Earth itself. Then the whiteman came along. To him everything is dead and only people have a spirit." Something to that effect, but it really sums up the difference in attitudes towards the natural world.

Similarly the Vedic scriptures seem to be validated with every new cosmological discovery. Now astrophysisists are saying that M-theory shows that there wasn't just one big-bang. That "big bangs may be quite common". Well this is nothing new to Hindus and their view of creation. I like it when theology accidentally finds itself in agreement with science. Or vise-versa.

"In the philosophy of Yoga, derived from the Samkhya system, all matter in the universe is reducible to one primary substance called Prakriti. Prakriti literally means the original power of action. It does not refer to substance in the physical sense but to the potential from which all forms of matter, energy and mind can arise. It is the prima materia of the world of which matter, energy and mind are manifestations. Prakriti, we could say, is the causal or original form of all substances, from which their subtle and gross forms arise. It is extremely subtle, ethereal and transcendent, forming the basis for space that is its first material form."

Facilitated Communication (FC)

A while back, a technique was developed for severely autistic children to communicate, that was dubbed "facilitation". An assistant would balance the wrist of some kid and they would tap away on a keyboard and be able to respond to questions. This was a huge eureka for some who were trying to breach this inpenitrable communication barrier with said patients. Then everyone started doing it.

Some autism expert was a little more sceptical so they set-up a study (and you'll like this Tim cause you seem to luxuriate in picking my posts apart) and what they did was show flash cards to the patient and the facilitator and ask them to tell them what it was a picture of...APPLE...CAT....BALL...etc. etc. The patients typed what the assistant saw no problem. THEN they placed a visual barrier between the patient and the facilitator and the typed answers then became complete gibberish:

ygigoihu!...iugeu!...trjwed! And everyone was perplexed. What was going on?

So what was occuring, in the final analysis, was that the facilitator UNKNOWN TO THEM was subconsciously manipulating the patients' wrist movements. What was apparently this tremendous breakthrough was actually occuring in the subconscious of the facilitator themselves. Further research compared what was occuring with the facilitator-patient interaction was a subconscious phenomena known since the turn of the century when spiritual mediums were in their heyday. (we'll skip Ramtha and Prophet)

In the 19th century when seances were all the vogue, physicist Michael Farraday investigated table tipping (1852) and found that it was due to pressure exerted by the fingers of the sitters (whether voluntarily or involuntarily) and was the first to report this phenomena.

People often had these wobbly table-tipping experiences with others while resting their fingertips on the edges of the seance table. They didn't knowingly apply any pressure on the table but they WERE at a subconscious level and in conjunction with others caused to table to move all over.

Basically the same thing was occuring with these facilitators.
THAT I'm sure has been described in the medical literature. Nevertheless it is still a hotly debated topic and there are some who believe that FC is legitimate.

Math, music and cosmology combined

I heard some strange music once where someone wrote a piece utilizing the orbits of the planets. No it wasn't Holst's "The Palanets"

Every planet was assigned a note (EGBDF) So either it was: Mercury, Venus, Earth , Mars, Jupiter...or there were some sharp and flat notes thrown in to include everyone.

Every time a planet completed an orbit a note was heard from what it was assigned. Being that orbits take so long it's my guess that the peice represented like a thousand years in time or something. I remember it being done on a synthesizer probably with the help of a computer to establish the proper timing.

The piece was actually pretty annoying to listen to like when an orchestra warms up. No beautiful harmonics like one would enjoy, just total a confusion of notes.

I was wondering if anyone else had heard this piece or any other similar attempts had been made to record the music of the planets?

Intersecting Energy Grids

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if so, how they were able to resolve it.

I don't have previous experience anything like this, nor do I know what to call it so I haven't been able to research it.

The thing in a nutshell is, I have a history of clairvoyance, usually having to do with events directly related to myself. No problem, I can live with that. However, in March I began a correspondence and phone friendship with a man in Florida who seems to be a soul sibling. He and I share so many similarities as to be uncanny. I began to have very potent dreams about him.

We met briefly when he visited CA in late April. We spent maybe a total of 4 hours total time together, and most of it in the presense of others. Then he went back home, and we resumed our emails and phone calls. However, there was some sort of threshold that was crossed when our discussions began touching upon the occult origins of the Third Reich as seen through the Buddhist perspective.

Then I began getting full on visions about my friend pertaining to his future. It was like our energy grids had interlocked is the only way to describe the feeling. However, he was totally uncomfortable hearing about my visions and demanded I stop communicating them.

Well, I would be happy to comply, only the visions won't stop manifesting, and it is incredibly uncomfortable to be getting another persons information and not having somewhere to safely dispose of it.

He thinks I am some kind of witch that has cast a spell on him just to torment him, and I am quite frankly annoyed and inconvenienced by getting this unwanted information about him.

My own theory is that somehow his and my energy fields are complementary and we have inadvertently formed some sort of auric gateway that is allowing the passage of energies from other levels to enter into this one.

The Buddhists might describe it as the Divas are coming through this portal, and right now it is only Good Ones, but I know instinctively that the Evil Ones are very interested too and I absolutely don't want any part of that! Better to have no powers than to let evil through!

Does anyone know how I can make these transmissions stop and how my friend and I can get our energy grids uncrossed?

Again, I am sorry if my verbiage in describing this situation appears imprecise, but as I said, I don't have any previous experiences to compare this to, nor have I heard of anything else like this.

Medical/scientific visualisation research

Hello All,

I study a History and Philosophy of Science subject. I intend to write my final essay on scientific investigation into the benefits of visualisation exercises.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that stroke patients benefit from similar visualisation exercises to those used by professional athletes. A Melbourne University report in the Department of Engineering also correllated trainable visualisation abilities to exam results.

Science as a community, however, seems notoriously shy about following up on such reports. For instance, everyone wants stroke patients to recover as quickly as possible, yet hardly anyone paid attention when research connected recovery rates to a regime of visualisation tasks. Not even any back-up research to get a larger sample size. This seems odd when you consider the low cost and potential benefits associated with such experiments.

Could anyone please point me towards other articles and research papers that investigate the benefits of visualisation tasks? Investigation into similar intrapersonal disciplines such as meditation, yoga, tai-chi, or even artistic expression might also prove valuable. The more scientific (in other words, thorough and non-anecdotal) the better.

Many of you may already be familiar with the article on Asperger's syndrome linked to below or the topic in general, but I just read this recently and found it quite fascinating. It has helped me further establish a bit more distinction between what is considered to be "normal" behavior and the reality that what is normal is a constantly evolving and likely oscillating continuum effected by genetic and environmental conditions at the very least.

I'm no Perfect Creature, Experience my only teacher. That must be why I see the things I see. Schizophrenic delusions embellish illusions flowing through the mind. Awakening my kind. Realizing infinite potential, truly existential. It's suddenly very clear to me, as I reach velocity, no surprize I see relationship in everthing that be.Modern civilization processing solely on observation. Ain't you ever ask why? Look up at the sky? Wonder what happens when we die? Eternal processes unfolding, always molding us. Nature's design is pretty sly. What I want to imply is that I seem to defy generalizations, categorically speaking. This you can't deny. I've got a sweet connection, I'm hooked up with the supply. A corrupt intstitution feeds mental pollution + toxic mass media = one final solution, the next stage in evolution.My theories on elevation supported by much information, processed by ritual meditation with no hesitation. Overstanding relativity, I simply can't help but see, atomic nuclei as I gaze at the stars in the sky. Will I transcend? one day perhaps. Clearly define state vector collapse. Wave/particle duality, the fundamentals of reality. The uncertainty principle supports we are truly invincible. Multiple varieties of frequencies bombarding me, becoming entangled, higher states dimensions and angles. It seems the more I experience, the greater the sequence of events to experience. Any logical possibility is a potential reality, factor in more variables, and sequential, experiential events grow by exponetials. My mind's been reeling with all the things that I be dealing.I'm kind of feeling as if the cloth of reality has started peeling.Of course this is just speculation brought on by an overactive imagination. After seeing Lazarus' wonderful introduction I thought I'd make my own. This is a poem I wrote early last year which has turned out to be continuously meaningful.

If we could only take the time
To talk to one another
Take the time to listen up
Drink deeply from the Other's cup...

Doors would open, and we would see
That "everything is permissible"
That Love guards the Sacred Path
That reveals the veiled invisible.

In a world that's lost its center
In a world that's out of balance
To share this wine of intimate times
Can become a challenge.

There's fear of Love that's unrequited
That we'll be left out in the rain
That what we'll know may only be
As glances from a moving train

And in the end it all comes down
To fearing WHO WE ARE
For when we bless the center
The Earth is joined up with the Stars

A Woman's Ceremony

Hello all,

I am new to this tribe, and am interested in beginning a hobby of writing, publishing, and pushing my perception of limits in my works of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and prose.

One of my other tribes is "Barefoot Walkers," where folks there revel in the fun of finding neat places to walk without shoes and enjoy the spirit and sensation of it. It's fun! Anyway, I threw this together, and wanted to share it on a writing board. It's streaming consciousness and only reviewed once, but here goes:

My feet
are neat
and show spirit's grounding
beside the river this autumn.
Sensitive and narrow,
I feel acutely the babbling brook next to which I stand.
And hesitate,
to feel the muddy squishing
of chilly mud between my toes.
A time of lovely cleansing.

An inch into the waters
and half and inch onto land,
the joyful pangs of the wet, wild flow
chill to the bone,
turning up the volume
on spirit's lively "Hello"
delivered by nature and a gift from the heart.

Birth and being birthed
United in the sands
I take the river
to my soul
and pray we come again.
Towards nature's clock
and nature's rhythms
through my soles arise my soul
and so
I give
my grateful thanks
to land and sky above.

I highly recomend: The Biology of Transcendence, a blueprint of the human spirit By: Joseph Chilton Pearce.

Pearce has written this book so well that it is addictive. Full of so much scientific knowledge on cutting edge neurology tied in very well with age old esoteric ideas. He has presented a plethora of facts and practical insight that it has opened up my mind and become one of my favorite books.
